Anna Maxwell-Martin

Anna Maxwell-Martin first came to prominence on the London West End stage playing the leading role of Lyra in the National Theatre's His Dark Materials.
She then bounced between theatre and television, appearing in
Doctor Who,
Elizabeth Gaskell Other Hands,
I Really Hate My Job,
Cabaret and
The Entertainer.
Notably Maxwell-Martin played Esther Summerson, the central character in the 2005 BBC TV adaptation of Charles Dickens'
Bleak House, for which she won the 2006 Best Actress BAFTA Television Award; she also played Cassandra Austen in
Becoming Jane, alongside Anne Hathaway in 2007 and appeared in a multi-million pound adaptation of
Wind in the Willows.
She is due to appear in the forthcoming UK premiere of
The Female of the Species.
